A 'diamond' of a donation...

With ‘Christmas spirit’ in full swing, it seems the time for giving and helping others is well and truly upon us. The Diamond Mine at Gold Reserves are about to help to give someone the best Christmas yet, through a large charity auction appeal taking place this weekend. Every year, 96.4FM The Wave and 1170MW Swansea Sound put together a Christmas full of fundraising, with the successful ‘Cash for Kids Appeal’. The appeal helps needy children in the South West Wales region. Local charities such as SNAC, The Joshua Foundation, NSPCC Cymru, Ty Hafan, Barnados to name a few, are and have been beneficiaries of the charity money raised across the weekend, where all day for two days the radio output is dedicated to raising money via an on air charity auction! This year, the auction is being raised up a notch with a rather ‘sparkly’ donation from Peter Middleton at The Diamond Mine. Listeners will be bidding to buy themselves, a beautiful brand new, fully certified diamond ring. The ring has a platinum band, with a ‘.61 carat’ diamond in the setting, retailing at just over £2,000. Talking live on air on Wednesday morning at 8.30am, Peter Middleton said “It’s a really special ring, it’s such a high quality diamond with a beautiful platinum band, perfect for an engagement ring – plus you are making a difference to children’s lives in Wales at the same time. That’s why it was important to me to donate this; helping local charities is so close to my heart and anything I can do to help, I will” Badger, breakfast show presenter and deputy programme controller at The Wave and Swansea Sound has said this is set to make a big difference to the appeal as well as creating a memorable story for one couple: “…we want to help someone pop the question. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could auction the ring and then have the proposal live on the breakfast show one morning? We want to say a big thank you to Peter Middleton for this donation, it’s always amazing when a large item like this is donated, it gives the radio station a big boost in raising money!” The auction will take place this weekend, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December on The Wave (Saturday) and Swansea Sound (Sunday), with the diamond ring, from the ‘Certified Collection at The Diamond Mine’ auctioned off on the Saturday with Badger live on air.
